A removals company that will not guess at your price

The domain says cost. The site has no prices on it. That is not an oversight and it is worth explaining properly, because it is the whole idea.

Why a site called removalscost.com publishes no prices

Because every published removals price is a price for a move that nobody actually has. It assumes a volume, a packing depth, an access situation and a distance — and if any one of those is different for you, the figure is wrong before you have finished reading it.

What that produces is the thing everyone complains about: a number that looked right online and a different number on the day. We would rather publish the mechanics. Read what actually shapes a cost, work out which factors apply to your move, then let us survey it and put a real figure in writing.

What we actually are

A removals company working across the United Kingdom. Houses, flats, single rooms, whole-country moves, offices, packing and storage — and moves continuing into France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.

There is no branch network behind that and no local office we are pretending to run. There are crews, vehicles, a survey process that works over video, and a quoting method that does not depend on being round the corner from you.

How we quote

We survey before we price. For most moves that is a video call — you walk round on your phone and we see the volume, the doorways, the stairs and the access, and we quote from what we have actually seen. For larger homes or awkward buildings we come out. Both are free and neither obliges you to anything.

The written quote states the volume we measured, the access we found, what is included, what is not, and what would change the number. That last line is the one that matters: it is what turns a quote into something you can hold another firm's quote against.

What we will not do

Publish a headline figure to get you to call. Quote from a bedroom count and correct it on the morning. Fold distance, stairs and parking into a number we hoped you would not query. Claim to be based somewhere we are not. Sell you a bigger service than the job needs.

We will also tell you when someone else is the better answer. On a single room across one town, a firm five minutes away has a genuine cost advantage we cannot close — and saying so costs us a booking and keeps the rest of this page honest.

What to ask any removals firm

Three questions, and they work on us as well as on anyone else. What volume did you measure? What packing does this quote assume? What access did you allow for — floors, lift, carry distance, parking? Most of the gap between two quotes lives in one of those three, and a firm that cannot answer all three has not looked at your move properly.

What we do not do

We do not quote before we understand the job. We do not promise a transit time we cannot stand behind. We do not take on a property without establishing that we can physically reach it. And we do not claim awards, accreditations, press coverage or customer numbers we have not got — if it is not on this site, it is because it is not true yet.

Cover

Goods in transit and storage cover are in place, with the usual conditions around owner-packed cartons and items of unusual value. Declare anything genuinely valuable at survey and we will confirm in writing what applies. The contractual position is on the terms page.

Getting hold of us

The quote form is quickest. Contact has the rest, questions covers what comes up first, and areas we cover shows exactly where our ground runs out.

Next step

Find out what your move actually involves

Tell us about it and we will survey it properly, then send a clear written quote that lists what is included and what would change it. No figure before we have looked — that would just be a guess with a pound sign on it.
